Episode #169 of the Autoblog Podcast has arrived, and it’s Chris, Sam, Alex, and Dan again this week. As usual, the Autoblog Garage starts us off, this time with a couple Suzuki Kizashis, a Ford Transit Connect, and the Cadillac SRX. The first topic for discussion are the latest developments in the ongoing Toyota Recall issue. The Cadillac CTS-V Wagon catches our fancy next, and we stay on the wagon tip to talk about the Acura TSX Wagon, which will debut at the New York International Auto Show. Honda’s CR-Z is next, before we go big and talk about the 2011 Ford SuperDuty. Wrapping up on a sporting note, we offer totally uninformed commentary on the Carl Edwards NASCAR wreck before taking a few listener questions and calling this turkey done. Thanks for listening!

Direct fanmail to Podcast at Autoblog dot com, review the show in iTunes, fill out our survey or even leave us a voicemail on our Google Voice line 734-288-8POD (734-288-8763). Until next week, hit up Joystiq and Engadget when podcast loneliness sets in. Thanks for listening!

The Shunk, Nunez, Abuelsamid and Roth quartet reconvene for Episode #168 of the Autoblog Podcast with the Geneva Motor Show now underway. Our first order of business is a stop at the Autoblog Garage, occupied this week by the Suzuki Kizashi, Kia Sorento, BMW 750Li, and Cadillac SRX. Anticipating the massive auto show that’s just about to start, we dive right in. Starting us off is the awesome electric-green Lamborghini 570-4 Superleggera. Jumping from Italian exotics to the ultimate SUV, we talk about the 2011 Porsche Cayenne before segueing cleanly into a discussion of the crack-pipe pricing for the Volkswagen Touareg hybrid. Before we leave the VW/Porsche sphere, we talk about how insanely cool the Porsche 918 Spyder concept car is. The Ford Focus station wagon is one of those things we’ll see in Geneva, but likely not in the U.S., while the Lexus CT200h is making its way to the shores of North America. BMW’s 5 Series Active Hybrid Concept keeps up the cavalcade of alternative propulsion by the big Swiss lake, and it’s our last topic before calling it a night. Thanks for listening!

2009 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2.0T Track - Click above for high-res image gallery

The 2.0T is the low man on Hyundai’s Genesis Coupe totem pole, disappointing the power addled and whooping it up too much for pinkie-waving tea drinkers. However, raw power isn’t what this turbo model is all about, and once that’s made clear, the coupe becomes a delightful flavor in Hyundai’s best recipe. All the careful execution of the Genesis Sedan carries over, with an extra dollop of involvement. It’s a driver’s car, pure and simple. And that’s a recipe we enjoy as much as Mom’s London Broil.

While the car-crazies have hotly anticipated the Genesis Coupe’s retail arrival, mainstreamers have yet to get the memo that Hyundai has its afterburner lit. Entirely different than the Tiburon it sent packing, the Genesis Coupe is a rakishly good looking car with crisply pressed, creative styling. So it looks good, but how’s it drive?

We could’ve sworn we heard this idea from Lieberman first. No matter, Car & Driver saw the potential hilarity in the concept of teaching grandmothers the finer points of late-braking and lateral g-forces, too. Mothers-in-law of the buff book’s writing squad were recruited for some lapping in MINI Clubmans, and hopefully the amateur pilots walked away with a deeper understanding of just what it is their sons-in-law do. CD associate editor Tony Quiroga supplies the voiceover, and the video is probably not the most exciting thing you’ll watch today, but you can see for yourself how the events unfolded after the jump.

Episode #141 of the Autoblog Podcast marks the first time we’re joined by a guest outside the Autoblog Inner Circle, and we’re hoping that it’s the start of a trend. This week, our interview couch is occupied by drift, rally and stunt legend (and all-around good guy) Tanner Foust, the only back-to-back Formula D champion ever. Since Tanner’s a racer, we kick off the show talking about the heartbreaking Ferrari crash at Monterey before touching on the Dodge Viper powered Devon GTX and its screaming lap at Laguna Seca.

Actual news starts with talk of the Hyundai Equus coming to the United States, moves on to the Volkswagen Phaeton’s supposed return to the North American market, and then to the Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder. Acura’s ZDX tickles (or not) our design eyes, and then we wrap up with some of your questions. Thanks for the new reviews at the Autoblog Podcast iTunes page, as well as taking the time to fill out our survey. The feedback to our Podcast at Autoblog Dot Com address has been great, too, so keep it coming… see you next week!

Episode #140 of the Autoblog Podcast is going to just squeak under the wire for the weekend. It’s late, and we’re going to blame the new guy. Jonny Lieberman joined Chris and Dan for a few moments between bouts of Skype-drop-itis, and the trio started off blithely to discuss the Autoblog Garage and then the Ferrari 458 Italia before giving up on J-Leib for the night. Down a man, Chris and Dan carry on and cover the Cadillac ATS and XTS, along with the Chevrolet Volt’s controversial 230 MPG city rating. In between, of course, is plenty of Autoblog inside baseball, including an especially good tangent where Shunk starts psychoanalyzing the team. We cap it off by answering a bunch of questions, and that’s it. At least there’s value there, as we continue for 80 minutes. Let us know what you think by sending a note to Podcast at Autoblog Dot Com, or hit up our survey, and iTunes users can also leave reviews at the Autoblog Podcast iTunes page. Thanks for listening, we’ll see you again early next week!

Wilcraft ice fishing car

Free yourself from the worry of an inadvertent truck-dunking on your way to the ice fishing hole. Rather than risk sending 8,000 pounds of daily-driver iron to the bottom of Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg, inventor Tom Roering has developed an ideal vehicle for ice-crusted outdoor excursions.

The Wilcraft, an assembly of Water, Ice, and Land, is a 500-pound powdercoated aluminum specialty vehicle that treads lightly enough that your pickup will live to die another day. A 305cc powerplant allows for a 600 pound payload, and a two-speed gearbox delivers a top speed of 20 MPH. Traction comes courtesy of a locking differential. Hunting and ice fishing are what Roering’s vehicle excels at, and it turns into a fishing shack once your holes have been augered. A price of $10,495 for this specialized machine might seem steep, until your F-350 reinterprets The Wreck Of The Hesperus.

Click above for high-res image gallery of the 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Ralliart

Lancer, good. Lancer Sportback, better. Lancer Sportback Ralliart, better still. The hatchified version of Mitsubishi’s Lancer was confirmed earlier this year to go on sale as a 2010 model. For the first two-thirds, it’s a normal Lancer, but out back there’s a smidge of extra length and a newly fattened C-Pillar for the practical hatch profile. Not only is it sporting smart-looking hatchy excellence, the Lancer Sportback glowers at the Subaru Impreza and says “bring it.”

Tweaking an Impreza’s nose is best done when you’re rocking the $27,590 Lancer Sportback Ralliart. The entry GTS serves up the style and utility for a reasonable $19,190, but the 2.4-liter four cylinder’s 168 horsepower, while good, doesn’t exactly get enthusiast blood boiling. If you want your Sportback GTS to shift itself, it will start at $20,190 and pack a CVT with magnesium shift paddles and six fixed ratios to emulate more conventional transmissions.

Real performance isn’t the exclusive domain of the Evo. In fact, the Lancer Sportback Ralliart is something of a 2/3 Evo, running an underachieving version of that car’s 2.0-liter turbocharged engine spitting out 237 horsepower through all four wheels either via a twin-clutch paddle-shifted six-speed. More hatches are always good, and more higher-performance hatches are even more welcome. Get all the details in the press release after the jump.

Custom cars and B-Movies, they go together like vinegar and baking soda. The results, while momentarily interesting, fizzle out quickly.

We’re not really sure what the heck the full version of Accelerator will be about - if indeed there will be one at all - other than some kind of horror intercut with scenes of new and vintage Shelby Mustangs and an Andrew Probert homage “Area 51″ car. Any vehicle that can befuddle a speed trap is at least worth a look, though we warn you, you will not get your 1:41 back. Video posted after the jump. Thanks for the tip, Dan!

As sure as the August heat is going to make that ice cream cone melt all over your hand, the Autoblog podcast keeps notching up new episodes. Chris, Sam, and Dan blocked out some time to sit in front of the microphones and chat about a few things, and thus we present to you Episode #139 of the Autoblog Podcast. Surprisingly positive sales figures start us off, and we stay on that category for a little while, mulling the Ford Focus’s top status as a C4C purchase, and Camaro beating Mustang again in sales figures. Moving on to the truly sublime, we talk about the exotics at the MeadowBrook Concours before hitting on Fiat’s MultiAir technology port and then wrapping with some of your questions. Thanks for all the response so far to our survey, and iTunes users can submit reviews of our work at the Autoblog Podcast iTunes page, too. We’re always reachable at Podcast at Autoblog Dot Com, too. See you next week!
